Hey 👋 my name is

Karolina Dubiel

Let's connect â†’

I'm a Georgia Tech Computer Science major with concentrations in Cybersecurity and Human-Centered Computing. As the daughter of first-generation immigrants, I'm passionate about STEM equality and opportunity access. I also love matcha, hiking, solo travel, and the New York Times mini crossword!

I have too many projects to list all of them here, but here are some of the ones I'm most proud of. There's a much more complete list on my Github :D

Hackathon

Stanford TreeHacks '25: HackTCHA

Built an AI security testbed that:
(1) benchmarks CAPTCHA robustness by testing solve rates of leading vision-language models (GPT-4o, Gemini 2.0, Mistral Pixtral) against various CAPTCHA types and
(2) applies novel obfuscation techniques including Diff-CAPTCHA (diffusion model + UNet) to harden CAPTCHAs against automated attacks while preserving human solvability.

Hackathon

HackUPC '25: Travelero Tralala

I solo traveled to Barcelona Tech to build Travelero, an AI-powered travel coordination platform that:
(1) optimizes international meetup locations by computing cost matrices across multi-leg flight routes using Skyscanner API data and custom algorithms to minimize group travel expenses and
(2) provides collaborative trip planning through a Qwen LLM agent that generates context-aware recommendations by analyzing all group members' preferences stored in PostgreSQL via SQLAlchemy ORM.

Hackathon

🥇 Best Developer Tool

Hack the North '24: APICasso

At Canada's largest hackathon, my team created APIcasso, a web scraping automation tool that:
(1) converts any website into a structured REST API by generating well-defined schemas using Cohere's LLM to intelligently parse and extract data from arbitrary web pages and
(2) handles dynamic content extraction through custom Chrome drivers and Selenium, with Redis caching and Supabase backend for persistent API endpoint storage and authentication.

Personal Project

Leaves: Infinite LinkedIn Queens

I love playing Queens, and I wanted to play more than once a day.
So, I built an infinite clone of the game using Next.js and React, implementing a custom N-Queens solver with randomized backtracking and dynamic color region generation to create unlimited unique puzzles.
Features real-time validation, multiple color palette themes, and win detection!

Hackathon

🥇 Overall Winner

🥇 Southface Challenge

Impact Hack '23: Particle Visualization

I created a live air pollutant particle visualization tool for any area in the world using Particle.JS and the OpenWeatherMap API, winning among 300+ other hackers.
A fully functional live demo is available here.

Extracurricular

TEDxYouth Talk

For over 4 years, I led the Girls in Aerospace Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to empowering young women in STEM and aviation, whose most impactful program paired over 300 women ages 14-24 one-on-one with a mentor in the aerospace field for a 6-week mentorship program. This TED talk is about what I learned throughout the process.
